The McDaniels household began this summer with an early trip to Key West to break the hold of winter on our souls and share some relaxation with friends and family.

I enjoyed a cross country trip with a girlfriend who needed a human co-pilot to help her, Charlie the 90 pound Retriever and Louie the cat, move home to Spokane after nearly two years of caring for parents in Pennsylvania.

We sold Mom’s house, cleared it out, stored and distributed the treasures it held and enjoyed sharing family time in the process.

There was the much anticipated and thoroughly enjoyed trip to Jump Off Joe with my Bunko tribe,  a weekend camping trip with some old friends and an anniversary weekend adventure with my husband to a Seattle Mariner’s game and our first time at Safeco Field.  It’s been quite a summer but that’s not all.

My biggest accomplishment for the summer was writing my first book.  My book is titled “Daughters on Duty – A Caregiver’s Guide to Managing Medical Matters”.  Those who know me personally know that being a caregiver for the elderly, namely my in-laws and my mother, has been a part of my life since the late nineties. This book contains lessons I have learned in those years and helpful hints about navigating the process of shepherding a loved one through a medical emergency and choosing a recovery environment.

I am very pleased to tell you that you will be able to download my book  from when it launches on September 8, 2014.  It will be free for the first five days and I would love to share it with you and ask you to share with someone you know that could be helped and supported by advice on being a caregiver to someone you love.

Stay tuned… I will post the link here as soon as I get it.
